Last updated date: 2/28/24

We are excited to announce a new tool that has been released on Community, the Apptio Value Framework!

Below is information about the tool and guidance on how to best use it.

What is the Apptio Value Framework and where can I find it?

The Apptio Value Framework (AVF) is our official company-wide repository for customer use cases for all our products. It is a comprehensive list of solutions to guide the customer journey and provides an easy-to-understand and interactive structure to help identify objectives, associated value statements, and resultant outcomes.

This is Apptio’s gold source for use cases, the framework to view all capabilities and solutions for all products within the Apptio portfolio.

You can find the AVF tool on Community by Navigating to Resources > Value Framework, or by visiting this link: LINK TO AVF

How is the framework structured?

There are 3 ways to begin using the tool.

The first step is to determine how you would like to search, as there are multiple ways to get the information you are looking for.

You can view solutions and use cases by Product, by Domain or by Persona.

Regardless of the method you view, each section contains:

  • The problem statement – describes a business challenge from the customer perspective.
  • The Apptio Solution – describes the solution Apptio provides to address the problem statement.
  • The Solution Areas – thematic grouping of Use Cases that help address the problem.
  • The Use Cases and KPI’s that align with the applicable Solution Area. **

**please note, you can filter for KPI’s that are already predefined in our OOTB reporting, vs. KPI’s that would be required in custom reports.

Digging a bit more into the viewing Options:
Viewing by Product – This lists out the various Apptio product offerings, but can expand into “sub-products,” as applicable. You can see the applicable list of sub-products by clicking on the carrot next to the Product name. This is a comprehensive list of solution areas, use cases, and KPI’s associated with a particular product/sub-product.

Viewing by Domain – This simply offers a different way to view the solutions and use cases based upon the applicable domain area of interest. This is a comprehensive list of solution areas, use cases, and KPI’s associated with a particular business function/domain.

Viewing by Persona – This view filters the various solutions and use cases of interest to a particular persona/group. This is a comprehensive list of problems/solutions/use cases associated with a particular persona of interest.

Who can use the AVF?

Customers and Apptians alike have access to this tool. It offers the opportunity to collaborate with your Account Team on current and future areas of interest. Any user with active Community login credentials has access to the AVF.

Best Practices on Using AVF:

You can begin your initial search by asking some of these questions:

  • Am I trying to determine new use cases, or expand on existing use cases for the coming year based on the Apptio products our company owns?
  • Am I meeting with stakeholders at my company who need help understanding the various areas Apptio can help with?
  • Am I interested in targeting new domains that we have not focused on yet?
  • Is my TBMO hoping to expand Apptio usage and adoption to other teams?

This tool is meant to help customers determine new use cases to investigate with their account teams, research use cases to help deal with challenges the teams have, determine new KPI’s of interest, etc.

As mentioned above, anyone with valid Community login credentials has access to this tool, though we encourage partnering with your Account Team.

We encourage feedback! As you review the framework, please pass along feedback to your account team.

@Bethany Reyda - The Link to AVF just takes me to the community page and not specifically to anything related to AVF
