Reserved Instance Planner Now Available for Azure SQL Database

Purchasing reserved instances (RIs) is one of the most effective ways to reduce your Azure bill. By committing to an ongoing level of usage for one- or three-years customers get the benefit of a significantly lower hourly rate.

With this update users can now generate RI purchase recommendations to cover their Azure SQL Database usage. Users can toggle the RI term length to match their organization’s needs (three years has a much higher savings rate in return for the longer commit). The planner surfaces important information to educate your purchase decision making including the estimated net savings and savings rate.
