 Visualization option for matrix

We already use apptio bi within cloudability for our visualization engine with all its more modern capabilities than the base engine that it is replacing. There has been one visualization type I have been unable to do and wonder if it is already able to be done in some fashion, or if it could be put in a roadmap. The visualization type is a matrix. It is similar to a simple table, however the columns are simply a chosen dimension, making it a variable column count table based on the possible values of that dimension chosen. The cell values are the actual numbers where the rows and columns match data.

I've used this often in power bi, it is one of their core visualization types. It helps for looking for trends over time (columns all being a day or week etc) and the rows being resources or groups of resources, and cell values being costs. Doing a stacked bar time chart can be too simplistic, especially when there are too many bands.

update: Checked with apptio support and found that I'm not missing anything - it isn't possible and to submit to ibm ideas. Completed that today 1/13.

Thank you for submitting your suggestion to IBM Ideas. It may not operate quite the same out of the box as BI's Matrix visualization but you may be able to mimic that functionality using Apptio BI's Table Visualization. So long as you have one or more Dimension, one or more Metric, and a Date Range you can get a simple table up and running. For more details on how to set up a table visualization in Apptio BI please see the following tutorial page on Apptio Help Center: https://help.apptio.com/en-us/apptio_bi/self-service-reporting_user_guide/ssr-create-tables.htm
