  • 1.  Performance Component for v104

    Posted Wed October 10, 2018 09:28 AM

After attending the Elite TBMA Summit and the European User Conference yesterday we are very (very) interested in getting the performance component added to our project so we can self-service our performance issues.

However, I'm led to believe (questioning my bad memory) that this is only possible with v105 components. What can we do if we're on v104 and currently unable to upgrade to v105?

Think the performance component will be a huge benefit not only to the TMBO but our end users also.

@Sheridan Coulter We too are really interested to understand this in more detail. We're running 12.5 now following an upgrade, so assume this feature will now be available? We're definitely looking for areas we can improve our model to aid future performance, so this new functionality will be ideal.

Hi @Julie Batty and @Richard Lewis,

The component is only available to version105 templates, correct... Please consult with your (P)CSMs to get this installed... There will be some documentation on this soon, but not yet, unfortunately.

    Thanks,

Very true @Gulcin Menekse - I was given some direction to get the component loaded on v105 but within an overall v104 environment however, it didn't quite work. Another reason for the rebuild

@Mark Nealey Do you have anything ready to publish about the performance component?  If not, @Shannon Wallner do we have an ID with any time to meet up with Mark and get something out here?  If not, put me on the list after I get this CBM webinar finished!  @Tony Wong  @Rhonda Keller

Thanks for the tag @Jenny Goodwin I look around and see if there's anything internal we can make customer facing. if not, I'll check with the User Assistance team about documentation for this functionality.

@Rhonda Keller and @Jenny Goodwin, you can check with Dan Kelley. He told us that there are steps to follow after installing this component because activating this component without proper configuration can put stress on the server. He called it 'guardrails' that needs to be setup in the reports configuration. Since I don't have all the details, I didn't want to tag Julie yet.

If you are currently on the v104 content, you can follow these steps to install the Component without having to migrate to the v105 template.

1.)Under the project tab, click project Settings

2.)Change the template to Version 105, click save

3.)Under components you should now see the Performance Review component.  Install this component.

4.)Revert the Project Settings template change, click on "Revert Changes" and check the box for "Project Settings" and Click Revert Checkout.  This is revert the template change.

5.)Once the Project Settings change has been reverted, click "Check In" from there ensure the "Component:Performance Review" is check, and check in the document.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with this workflow.

Oh no @Julie Batty did your second attempt work? If not, what behavior are you getting?

This should work in all cases, if it's is not feel free to open a support case, or post details here and I can take a look.

I just tried your excellent description but just as @Julie Batty, I failed (also being on 104). The message I get when I hover over the icon is "This component version is newer than the project's component version"

If it was working, I assume the icon would show and wouldn't the option show in the drop-down menu in the upper left corner?

@Julie Batty - what did not work for you specifically?

The same issue Lars has mentioned. Once I'd checked in the component nothing actually happened, the hazard sign came up on the component and that was it.

The template version of RBS CT is very old, that is the only thing I can think of (**another reason for a rebuild )

I am curious now, what is your current template @Lars Peterson?

I've just tried it again @Gulcin Menekse & when I revert the project settings the component disappears - I think you're right that it's due to the age of our project

Do you mean the Component version? If so, it's 104.
