At the beginning of this year, I was engaged with a client to implement Apptio IT Planning across several locations under a single legal entity. Prior to the engagement, the client's historical budgeting and forecasting process involved extensive amounts of spreadsheets and emails being sent back and forth. This would lead to many different working versions of a budget and forecast, leaving stakeholders without a single source of truth about their financial plan. With Apptio IT Planning, the client can enter their financial information within a plan in real-time, and the tool eliminates the need for spreadsheets. Key stakeholders can review the budget or forecast and provide feedback in real time. IT Planning will serve as the source of truth for the client for their annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
After rolling off the engagement, I'm pleased to report that the client is very pleased with IT Planning and all its features and capabilities. Apptio has provided tremendous value to the client when it comes to consolidating all their financial information in a centralized location and being able to report off that information in Cost Transparency. This engagement has been extremely rewarding to help a client replace their historical, financial process with a modern, updated process.
