 I have just joined the world of Apptio and one of my first tasks is to look at the feasibility of linking Apptio tables to visualisation tools such as  Tableau / Power BI ( Our company has an extremely large Tableau /Power bi  audience hence the need)  .  I was wondering if anyone has  a step by step  guide to  achieving a connection or at the very least provide an explanation ?  Thanks

I dont see any value in connecting Apptio to PowerBI or Tableau, since Apptio provides reports which pretty much fulfill the dash-boarding/reporting requirement with access control to consumers of the report. And since its browser-based SAAS tool, its more convenient to access for any consumer (doesn't matter if he has access to PowerBI/ Tableau).

Can you elaborate if you are looking for this integration for any specific use-case which cant be met using Apptio reports? It will be really great insight.

The audience in our organisation ( 10K+)  primarily uses Tableau &  Power BI.  We want to limit confusion  and also avoid admin issues  in managing dashboards.

In my previous job, I set up a script to pull the tables from Apptio via the API URLs of those tables (or reports) in to our environment as CSVs or TSVs, then use those as Tableau data sources.  Let me know if you need help setting it up, I'd be happy to walk you through.

I have tried using APIs  but I keep on getting different errors.

I believe the process needs to be more complicated that just an API (?)
