I currently manage a TBM team of 6 FTE's, which organizationally are structured 3 in IT and 3 in Finance.  We are now operational in managing our IT expenses through Apptio IT Planning and CT.  My company has been interested in expanding these principles across our non-IT Corporate Shared Services areas (i.e. Marketing, Legal, HR).  Earlier this year I assisted another finance team in my company with the initial piping of a new EBM cost transparency project in Apptio.  I have started to be asked to help this other team with getting them over the finish line in getting the EBM project to the finish line.  My concern is that this will begin to consume a good bit of my time, while not currently having direct oversight of these other resources/teams.

Question for the community:  Can someone share their experiences where your company expanded your use cases with Apptio (TBM + EBM) and what might a team org chart look like that manages the pre and post allocated expenses for the entire Corporate Shared Services divisions of your company (IT and non IT).  I'm considering wanting to go to my CFO and propose some kind of combined team to manage both areas, but I'm struggling to figure out the right org configuration.

I guess it depends on sponsorship. Is your CFO behind TBM? Who exactly is pushing for EBM?
For me, they are not ​separate disciplines, and EBM should be logically part of TBM.
Before coming up with an organization structure, I'd prepare a set of objectives combining EBM into TBM. That would be the "what's-in-it-for-me" for your CFO.
Your TBM is relatively large (at least compared to ours: two IT TBMAs and part of a Finance one), so it might make sense to beef it up further with the people dedicated to EBM.
The devil is in the details, as they say, but I'd really polish that elevator pitch and have a (small) set of materials/highlights to back it up with.
