Customizing Values for Fibonacci Sequence and Planning Poker in WSJF

If we follow the Fibonacci sequence for some projects and Planning Poker for others, can we customize the values, or not? Can we edit the Job Size, Business Value, Time Criticality, and RR values in the Feature WSJF?

Yes! You can customize different sequences for different projects. After creating a new board, follow these steps:

  1.  Set vertical and horizontal lanes.
  2. Select Effort in a horizontal lane.
  3. Click Filter and hover your cursor over the three dots.

    You can then select Linear, Planning Poker, or Fibonacci based on your project.

Poker Planning

By default, the grouping is done according to the Fibonacci sequence. However, you can customize it and use the filter by the Effort lane.

Another place where the Fibonacci sequence is used is under the Feature WSJF tab while assigning points to Time Criticality, Job Size, RR, and OE value.

Yes! You can edit the Fibonacci sequence for Job Size, Business Value, Time Criticality, etc.

Please follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings from the top right corner, and select Custom Fields.

2. If you want to add more Fibonacci scores (for example, Job Size), select "Edit" for Job Size.

3. You can add the next Fibonacci value in the "Value" tab, where you see 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, and up to 144. Press Enter to add 144.

4. Click "Save & Exit," then go back to the Feature WSJF tab to see the new scores in the drop-down.

For a moment I thought you meant planning and budgeting—but not in TP.

It made me think about how some organizations create operational plans. Fibonacci or Poker sound like more solid approaches!
