  • 1.  Migrate IWS from one environment to another environment

    Hello Team,

I am looking for guidance as I have to migrate objects like Jobstream, jobs, dependencies, calendars, runcylces, variables, Restful webservice connections etc. to another environment . Both are non-production level environment but the one that am looking to migrate to have nothing in there, only infrastructure is ready ( like MDM, FTA, WDC are running). FTA we were using will be gone where all the jobs were running, I have to move to new  FTA all the Jobsstream/Jobs with exiting configurations. FTA is in static pool, we can keep the same pool name like MASTERAGENTS( only one agent is there). Based on provided condition what should be best approach?

Thanks in advance for looking at this topic and providing valuable information.

    Thank You All

    -Satya

    Hi Satya,

I would use a Workload Application Template (WAT) to move your scheduling objects between environments. You select the jobstreams you want to include and the WAT then adds jobs, runcycles, prompts, etc as well to include:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/workload-automation/10.2.2?topic=objects-workload-application

When you import the other end you cn change resource names and workstations to run it on either via the DWC or command line (wappman).

    Regards,

    Hello Satya,

I changed environments last week between versions. Specifically, from 9.4.0 to 10.2.1 on completely new server. After setting up the new environment as you did, I just exported the definitions I needed from the old environment and imported them on the new one, based on this https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/workload-automation/10.2.1?topic=tasks-cloning-scheduling-definitions-from-one-environment-another

You can edit all the definitions you want before import them. I used the same FTAs so I did not change almost anything, but if the topology on the new environment changes, you can adjust it as well. You can also import only a part of the files. e.g some may be empty or you want to create them manually from command line or DWC.

    Hope that helps.
