SPSS Statistics Subscription Update #1

By Douglas Stauber posted Wed June 07, 2017 01:44 PM

A convenient feature of SPSS Statistics Subscription is the ability for the product to stay always up-to-date. Subscribers will always be the first to get the latest features and fixpacks through in-product updates.

Today we have released our first in-product update to SPSS Statistics Subscription. It is recommended for all SPSS Statistics Subscription users.

Release notes:

- New faster and simpler Windows installer
- Fixed a bug preventing a full 14 days of offline use
- Fixed translation and expiration display bugs
- Ability to read Cognos BI data from newer version
- Various security fixes

Subscribers will be asked if they want to download and install the update when the product launches, or they can check manually under the help menu.

Hi David - There is no ability to roll back updates for Subscription at this time.

Will users have the ability to roll back to a previous install update? For example, recently we updated V24 to Fix Pack 2 but encountered a bug with bulk insert which required that we roll back to fix pack 1 until FP2 is corrected; that required an uninstall and reinstall of the product. Would this be possible in the new subscription feature?

Hi Richard - Thanks for the question. At this time, upgrading the Subscription does require admin rights. The update installer for the Subscription requires elevated privileges in order to patch the original install.

Will this "subscription" updating work on locked-down academic-environment MS Windows computers? (i.e., computers to which the user has no Windows administrative-level account access?)
