It appears that version 29.0.2 is finally working on my Mac running OS Sonoma (14.1.2). So far, I was able to run the program from the command line (sudo -b /Applications/IBM\ SPSS\ Statistics/SPSS\ Statistics.app/Contents/MacOS/stats) but the program refused to start from the graphical user interface and couldn't be properly shut down. Here's what I now did:

Hi @Robert Csapo,
The behavior you and I discussed in Webex was related to your macOS user profile. Recall we got your Statistics Subscription up and running (albeit under a new Admin user profile) after applying the Sonoma interim fix..
Please follow Known Issue DT254931.

This is a workaround and not a solution. I had a long video call with IBM's David Dwyer, during which we jointly tried to figure out why SPSS crashes on my system. Although he really gave his best, we failed, so he suggested to forward a description of my situation to his developer team. Unfortunately, I haven't heard from him since…

My IT department finally got V28 to work on my Mac Sonoma - create a new Administrator - and simply download SPSS - copy the patch to the lib folder and it works. Yes it's a massive pain having to switch between two accounts, but it does work. IT couldn't figure out why that was on what was on my profile that was stopping SPSS from being recognised. But honestly, I don't care.
I don't know if this will work on V29 - it's worth a go!

Same issue here. The fix pack (replacing libplatdep.dylib) has not changed the problem at all.
SPSS 29 crashed immedately after startup, several reports have been sent to Apple already.

I don't know why my previous response to this post doesn't show so I'm trying again. I also couldn't launch SPSS 29 on Mac OS Sonoma despite have replaced the libplatdep.dylib file. The program crashes immediately upon start. One of the respective crash reports is enclosed. The solution proposed by R S works for me partially, in the sense that I can run the program directly from the command line, although it wouldn't close cleanly. Much looking for a solution to this mess.

Steve, I found and tested the instructions posted in this forum: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/458588/ibm-spss-statistics-28-fails-to-open-in-macos-12-monterrey on Sonoma 14 and SPSS 29.0.1.0
They were originally meant for Monterrey, but they work on Sonoma too.
So if anybody has a crash upon launch, like me, those will do.
Hopefully, this will help the developers' team to figure out the problem.

Starting a new thread here:
Sonoma is now released and no longer in beta -- but our license-server-configured version will not launch correctly.
What is the expectation for a release that will function on Sonoma now that it's actually released to the public?
