@Nick WilsonHi Nick, if you have installed SPSS 26 Fixpack 1 you may also try it out to install interim fix 26.0-IM-S26STATC-MAC-FP001-IF003 from IBM Fixcentral.
You will find the direct link to the IF on below article on section UPDATE 11/13/2020:
"After you install IBM SPSS Statistics 26 Fix Pack 1 on macOS, it is recommended that you apply interim fix 26.0-IM-S26STATC-MAC-FP001-IF003. This interim fix improves application stability issues reported on macOS. Download it
here."
It is at least worth a try when you cannot provide replication data, thanks

Hi Louis
The job is a big one, logistic regression with c9m observations - but it runs perfectly well on my old iMac (Sierra) and SPSS 25 - so there must be an issue with SPSS 26 and Catalina ? My machine is iMac Pro 3.2 8-core 128GB Memory

Hi Nick,
I reviewed the interim fixes and there are none remotely related to this issue, so it looks like you have found a new issue. If you can give us the syntax you use and some data that replicates the problem, we can look into it.

Hi Thanks for looking into this - unfortunately I can't see a crash report for SPSS engine.
I wonder if I could check with you exactly which patches I need for SPSS 26 and Catalina (10.15.7) and in which order.
Many thanks
Nick

Hi again Nick,
If spssengine crashed, likely there is a crash log in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/. It would have a name something like spssengine_date_yourname.crash. If you see one or more of those, upload the latest one and I can take a look and see if I can figure out what is causing the crash.

I watched it running on activity monitor to the point at which it crashed and spssengine disappeared - a crash report was generated below:

Hi, Nick;
I've spent considerable time checking around but have come up empty. We are not aware of any particular issue that could be causing this in v26 with fixpack 1 installed.
Version 27, now on 27.0.1, does include fixes for known processor terminations in v27 but this is a different issue most likely, since those problems were due to changes in the compiler(s).
Still, we would like to narrow down and pinpoint the cause of this if we possibly can. Is there a specific syntax that reliably shows the problem, and if so, could you please share it?

1. Start the program.
2. File > New > Syntax.
3. Type in SHOW VERSION.
4. Run that.
5. Copy the table that SPSS produces from that syntax and paste it into a reply to this note, please.

Hi Nick,
It would be helpful if you would share some more information about this error. Does it happen when you are running a specific procedure?
