Problem with case controls matching

  • 1.  Problem with case controls matching

    Posted Sat April 10, 2021 03:25 PM

    Hi

I have a database with data of ca. 2700 tumor patients. To find out if there are correlations between the surgical treatment and relapse of the tumor or if there is a risk for developing a relapse if certain procedures are performed or not I wand to perform a case-control-study. I have 137 patients with relapse.

I am using SPSS 27.0.1.0 and actually I want to find matches for the patients with relapse. To find matches I want to use 4 variable (age, sex, affected side, and tumor volume). The measurement level of all these variables is nominal. All numbers of the values are integer.

I have run the case-control-matching of my SPSS version (German version for Mac) countless times. I always get the

    "Message:

    Warnings

<built-in function GetCaseValue> returned a result with an error code"

I have already checked all of the involved variables. There are no missing data, there is no negative data. The group variable is 0 for patients without relapse and 1 for the one with relapse. Of course all of the cases have an individual ID-number. I checked that using the validation to find double cases.

At the moment I have no more ideas what to do. I have also tried version 25 on my Mac and version 27 on my PC (Windows 10). Always comes the same error message.

What am I doing wrong? Where is the problem?

Thank you for your help and support

I am the author of the two case-control matching procedures available in Statistics. That error is coming from an internal function used indirectly by these procedures. I have never seen that message, but if you can send me the data and the syntax you are running, I will try to track it down. (jkpeckSupport Member) I don't have a Mac, but since you report getting the message on Windows, too, that should not matter.
