  • 1.  export data to excel from version 29

Hi, this is my first time posting though I have been using SPSS for 20+ years. I recently installed version 29 provided by my employer. I went to export data from SPSS into Excel using either the Save as or Export function. Neither had a Variables button so I could choose the variables I wanted and both seemed to be all about saving the data to some data repository. I feel like I've wandered into some alternate version of SPSS! I'm obviously missing something.
    Thanks

    Hi.

That is a bug that has been fixed. You need to get interim fix 2 for version 29 to see those again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi,

I am trying to use SPSS 29, but it fails to generate a subset of variables in my first try-out -- there is no Variable Selection button anywhere. I searched online and found this post, I went to the link you shared, but there is NO interim fix 2 for version 29 to fix this issue.

How can users be happy when they pay this much money for this software but cannot even subset a dataset? And there is no fix. Great.

If you are on a Mac, select Edit > Options > General and be sure to unselect "Display native macOS file dialogs." Then try File > Export > Excel.

Is there any reason why using version 28 and higher, you can't copy tables to Excel (using Copy & Paste) without breaking the format? In previous versions I always used that quick solution to export tables, as a fast way to tae out some tables from the output and going directly to excel without having to export the file with each table. But from version 28 I can't do it because the table once is pasted into an Excel sheet, the format of the tables breaks and it is really tedious to fix it manually.
