AMOS select file error on paralleles

    hi all,

i am running SPSS on a mac machine through parallels. when trying to create a new file on AMOS and use the .SAV output file from SPSS as the data file, i get the below error:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException (0x80004005): External component has thrown an exception. at

    System. Windows.Forms.Application.ComponentManager.System.Win dows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.IMsoComponentManager.FPush

for context here are the steps i did to debug the problem:

1- uninstalled and reinstalled AMOS again as an admin

    2- opened AMOS as admin

3- created a new file and saved it locally

4- clicked on "select data file" and this is where the error comes.

on the other hand, when an AMOS file is created on a different windows machine (not using parallels),  i can open it on my machine through parallels with no issues.

so any idea what the problem is?

    Hi @Reem Alsuwaidi
IBM SPSS Amos is a Windows-only product.  It has had no testing and is not guaranteed to run on macOS under Parallels.
You may have better luck with a standalone Windows installation (perhaps via Bootcamp?) or a virtual machine (VMWare, or VirtualBox?).  But again, these would be untested/unsupported  environments for IBM SPSS Amos for Windows.
