OSCON 2019
(July 15 - 18) is this week, and experts in building solutions leveraging open source technologies will shortly start to fly into Portland, OR.
IBM
is very excited to participate in and sponsor
O'Reilly Media's
conference this year.
This year IBM has 20 participants
speaking
in everything from keynotes to workshops.
We adopt and support open-source solutions in our products, and within our practices.
On Tuesday, July 16th, we open with the IBM
ML Ops track
. ML Ops Day at
OSCON
is a gathering of industry practitioners discussing production deployments of ML workflows, and how to manage them most effectively. There are speakers from
Capital One
,
Comcast
,
GitHub
, and
IBM
, all talking about what it took for them to move their AI models from development into production. If you're a practitioner struggling with your own ML migration, and operationalization, these are must-see talks.
On the same day, IBM is also hosting two tutorials with hands-on workshops for developers who want to learn the practice of data science:
Learn how to use the open source Python package called
AI Fairness 360
, a comprehensive open-source toolkit that empowers users with 1) metrics to check for unwanted bias in data sets & machine learning models and 2) state-of-the-art algorithms to mitigate such bias.

Learn how to incorporate state-of-the-art
open-source deep learning
functionality into your applications and services, and how to train a model using your own data.

The data science
python
space, in particular, benefits immensely from open source projects. People have given their time and effort to make the projects that are important to them impactful and lasting. We're very excited to continue celebrating the spirit of open-source at IBM, as we have for 30 years, and want you to join us at OSCON. For those who can't get last-minute tickets, register for the IBM Data Science
community
and keep an eye out for replays and write-ups to follow.
