Think Digital 2020 Data Science Community Preview - Day 2

This week (May 5th and 6th) marks Think Digital, IBM's largest digital conference ever. Yesterday, I highlighted five sessions in the free event that may have been of the most interest to members of the IBM Data Science Community. Below are 5 more sessions of note that can be experienced on Day 2 of Think Digital,  which is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6th.

Act, Don’t React: How AI and Automation Will Change the Way You Work

In this keynote session, IBM SVP Rob Thomas will lead a group of partners in discussing how to are use a prescriptive approach to put AI and automation to work in organizations and the importance of being open. This sessions includes speakers from Box, Lufthansa,PayPal, Slack, and UPS and will be broadcast at 12:15 and 8:15 EST in the 'Feature Sessions 1' channel.

Science for Social Good

IBM and IEEE Fellow Aleksandra Mojsilović outlines some of the successes IBM Research's Science for Social Good program in this session at 12:30 and 8:30 EST. Saska will also discuss the program's more recent efforts to tackle COVID-19 with advanced technologies. This session will be on the 'Featured Sessions 2' channel.

Making AI Trustworthy and Transparent

In this session, B Cavello of Partnership on AI presents the need to identify and close gaps to responsible AI in order to make the technology more trustworthy and transparent. Then, IBM Developer Advocate Maureen McElaney outlines some projects that can help in this area, including the open source toolkits for AI explainability and fairness,  AIX 360 and AIF 360.

A Simpler Way to Buy and Manage Enterprise Software

Here, IBM VP and DE Hidayatullah Shaikh provides an introduction to the new Red Hat Marketplace. This marketplace will allow any organizations using Red Hat OpenShift to easily manage and deploy applications on any cloud or across multiple clouds. The service is available now at marketplace.redhat.com and its benefits, as described in the session, will free developers and data scientists to focus on building innovative solutions that deliver business value.

The Debater, an IBM Research documentary


This short documentary outlines the differences in building AI to compete in games and AI for debating, and follow the IBM team tackling this grand challenge with AI. The doc culminates in San Francisco,  where an IBM built AI faces off against a professional, human debater.
