¿Qué es Ciencia de Datos en español?
Ciencia de Datos en español es una nueva iniciativa de IBM, que comenzó en febrero del 2020.
Nuestros principales objetivos son:
- Crear nuevo material científico de Ciencia de Datos, productos y servicios de IBM en español.
- Distribuir nuevo material de Ciencia de Datos en español para hacer más sencillo su entendimiento.
- Entrenar a nuestra población de habla hispana de IBM, de una manera mas amigable en temas de Ciencia de Datos.
- Unir a los profesionales de países en donde el lenguaje nativo es el español, que han desarrollado soluciones novedosas dentro del campo de la Ciencia de Datos.
- Promover la Certificación de la carrera de IBM Data Scientist en países donde se habla español.
Objetivo en el corto plazo: (Junio/Julio/Agosto/Septiembre 2020)
Durante estos 4 meses iniciales nos dedicaremos a crear/recibir nuevos videos en español sobre productos, y servicios incluidos dentro de Watson Studio Cloud
¿Cómo nació Ciencia de Datos en español?
He trabajado con computadoras en los últimos 35 años: comenzando como programador en lenguaje basic, luego como administrador de redes Novell, administrador de Firewalls y finalmente realizando tareas como Administrador de Bases Oracle desde 1996.
Trabajé en los departamentos de sistemas de compañías de electricidad, telecomunicaciones, y software factory, arribando finalmente a IBM en marzo del 2006 donde tuve diferentes roles:
Administrador Senior de base de datos Oracle, Subject Matter Expert (SME), team leader y actualmente con el role de Global Database Chief Engineer en la organización de Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Service Engineering. Certifiqué como IT Specialist Level 3 – Thought Leader en el 2018 y creé mi 1er patente en IBM sobre tecnología Blockchain durante el 2020.
Vivo en un país de habla hispana y en el pasado he sentido que estudiar y trabajar en otro idioma era otro examen para pasar y hacer mejor mi trabajo. Era como otra barrera a ser resuelta para alcanzar mis objetivos. Pero luego de trabajar durante algún tiempo en IBM, me sentí muy bien trabajando en inglés, pensando en inglés dado que ahora esa barrera ya no existe para mí. Pero, sin embargo, no olvidé mi condición anterior y por ello hace algún tiempo atrás pensé: como puedo ayudar a la gente que trabaja en IBM y que siente lo mismo que yo sentí con la barrea del idioma.
¿Cómo puedo hacer más fácil sus vidas para que trabaje mejor, mas rápido y sientan la misma libertad que siento hoy? Ese pensamiento, fue la semilla inicial que dio origen a Ciencia de Datos en español

What is Data Science in Spanish? (¿Qué es Ciencia de Datos en español?
Data Science in Spanish is a new IBM initiative that started in February of 2020.
Our main objectives are:
- Create new scientific material about Data Science IBM products and services in Spanish,
- Spread new Data Science material in Spanish to make it more understandable,
- Train our IBM Spanish population in a kind way on Data Science topics,
- Join professionals in Spanish native languages countries that have developed many novelty solutions inside Data Science fields,
- Promote the IBM Data Science Certification Career in countries with Spanish language.
Short term milestone: (June/July/August/September 2020)
During these initial 4 months, we will be focused to create/receive new videos in Spanish on Watson Studio Cloud products, features, and services.
How was Data Science in Spanish born? (¿Cómo nació Ciencia de Datos en español?
I have worked with computers in my last 35 years: I started as Basic Language programmer, then as Novell network administrator, Firewalls administrator and finally become Oracle database administrator since 1996. I worked in information systems departments at electricity, telecommunication and software factory companies and finally, I arrived at IBM in March of 2006. I had different roles at IBM: starting as Senior Oracle DBA, Subject Matter Expert (SME), team leader and currently as Global Database Chief Engineer inside Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Service Engineering. I certified IT Specialist Level 3 – Thought Leader in 2018 and created my first IBM patent for Blockchain during this year 2020.
I live in a country where the native language was/ is Spanish and I felt that study and work in other language was another “exam” to be completed to do my work better. It was like another barrier to be jumped to get our goals. After some time working in IBM, I feel very well working in English, thinking in English, and living in English, so now, this barrier does not exist anymore for me. However, I do not forget my previous condition, and therefore I though some time ago: How can I help to the people that it is working into IBM and feel the same about English barrier? How can I make easier their lives so they can work better, faster, and be comfortable and feel the same freedom that I fell today?
This was the initial seed that started our Ciencia de Datos en Español (Data Science in Spanish).
Finally, I hope to receive your feedback and contributions to make “Ciencia de Datos en Español” start growing for the whole population benefit.
