Version: Cognos Analytics 11.2.0 to 11.2.2

Note: Starting in Cognos Analytics 11.2.3, this feature is now part of the product as the vizualization named Drop-down list, and an additional extension is no longer required.

Using the Filter dropdown widget

1. Select the Filter dropdown widget in the Visualizations panel and add it to the canvas.
2. Add a column to the Column slot.
3. Optionally, open the properties for the widget and enter Helper text or change Selection from single-select to multi-select.
4. Select entries from the dropdown list in the widget to filter visualizations on the canvas.

To use this sample extension, click the Download button above to download the zip file (do not unzip it) and follow these instructions to upload the extension to Cognos Analytics. You must have Portal Administrator or System Administrator privileges to do this. After the upload, you will see a new object in the Manage > Customization > Extensions tab named filterDropdownWidget

You can create extensions (.zip files) that add functions to the Cognos Analytics user interface. For example, you can add buttons that, when clicked, open a specific report or dashboard. You can also remove default buttons from the user interface.

Extensions are defined in a spec.json file that is contained in the root of the extension's .zip file. Depending on the extension, there can also be folders that include images, HTML files, and JavaScript files. For more information, see Creating extensions.
