  • 1.  IBM DOORS NEXT - CREATE A LINK TO PDF PAGE

    Posted 9 days ago

    Hi all

I have imported a number of standards / requirements into DOORS NG which are in pdf format (not available in any other format unfortunately), each containing a large number of individual requirements in them. Rather than all of my traceability links pointing at the overall pdf as a single artifact, is there any way of creating links that will open the pdf on a particular page or at a specific location in the pdf that relates to the information I am referencing with the traceability link?

For info, I have tried converting the pdfs to Word documents and importing them but the conversion destroys a lot of the formulae etc in the process which requires me to work through the document and snip the relevant items out as images and insert them into the document before import. A very, very time consuming task and often results in missing information.

Thanks in advance for any pointers which would help me with this task.

    Regards

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I am not sure if this is what you need, but if you add "#page5" at the end of your PDF link, it would open that PDF on that page.

    Examples:

                 "file:///C:/path/document.pdf#page=5"

    Regards!

DOORS NG itself does not have the function of itemizing PDF format files when importing.
My suggestion for this problem is to spend some time and effort to convert PDF to Word and proofread it, and then import it from Word format to DNG to achieve itemization and facilitate tracking.

Thanks for the update Suchuan - this is the method I have been using but as stated, it is prone to error and is a very manual process, particularly in relation to formula which do not translate well between pdf and doc formats.
