Greetings Ananthan,
I regret to inform you that we did not obtain or find a resolution to the problem. We eneded up wiping the VM and starting over. We did get past the HMC issues after upgrading our HMCs.

Error
Unable to add host PI8408-302-21C001W-RR01_02. Explanation: The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation.
Any solution for the issues ? We are also facing the same issues post the Installation of PVC 2.2 while adding the IBM frames.

I was able to add one of the two HMCs to PowerVC, but when I attempted to add the frames, every frame errored out with the following message.
Error
Unable to add host PI8408-302-21C001W-RR01_02. Explanation: The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation.

@Carl Gerlach,
This issue must be related to a permissions issue.
Permissions on the file were changed from the correct owner to root or some other owner
Review the logs for errors.
Search for "permissions denied".
From the powervc server cli run the following command:
ls -ltr /etc/cinder/ | awk '{print $1,$3,$4,$9}'
Correct the permissions and restart powervc-services.
Finally, attempt to re-manage the HMCs.

Greetings everyone:
We've been in a PowerVC nightmare for over 2 years. PowerVC had been a decent product back in the 2015 - 2018 time frame, but since then, at least for us, it's been one problem after another.
We have RedHat 8.4 on Power in a VM on an 8408-44E frame as our PowerVC server.
Our storage is provided by Dell/EMC VMAX.
We had PowerVC v 2.0.1 installed on the same virtual machine mentioned above. A Following the upgrade instructions we ran a powervc backup prior to uninstalling powervc 2.0.1 from the VM.
We installed / configured a RHEL HA one node cluster.
The installation appeared to go OK. However upon logging in the first time I always try the most basic step before restoring from backup. I tried to add one of the two HMCs. They are both 7063-CR1 at V9R2SP952, MH01872,MH01882,MH01905.
The only error we receive when adding the HMC is as follows:
Unable to connect to HMC hmcdr1. Explanation: The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation.
Strangely PowerVC adds the HMC and it has a Health status of OK. However, when I try to add a host, it does find all the hosts that are attached, but if I try to add one it errors our with the exact same message.
Error
Unable to add host PI8408-301-xxxxxx-RR01_01. Explanation: The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation.
Has anyone encountered this issue and found a resolution?
Thank you for reading...
