Diego Bessone got immersed in the IBM mainframe world in 1987 when he started working at the data center of AerolĂ­neas Argentinas, the flag carrier of Argentina. During 10 years he enjoyed the opportunity to work on all sorts of mainframe systems including DOS/VSE, VM/ESA and MVS, running Db2 and IMS applications, supporting the largest airline reservation and check-in system in Latinamerica. With this experience he also worked as a technical consultant for the IT departments of multinational companies, finance, utility and government agencies in Argentina.

Diego Bessone joined IBM in 1998 and is currently an IBM Global Sales Director for IBM Z. During his career at IBM he has led the sales strategy for IBM's systems management portfolio in Argentina, moving to Austin, TX in 2001 to lead the Latinamerica team, adding to his role business operations management when he moved to Miami, FL in 2003, and then leading software sales at a worldwide level since 2009, managing the IBM Z Application and Platform software portfolio, growing market share for the platform year after year, while helping IBM customers maximize the value they get from their IBM mainframes. In 2022 he got promoted into an executive role becoming the IBM Z Hardware Sales Director, and then in 2024 the IBM Z Software Sales Director, driving sales and revenue for IBM Z, providing sales guidance and input to Product Management, working in developing an ecosystem, and improve and accelerate sales enablement, making sure the IBM zStack strategy continues to evolve.
