Have you experienced a problem where ODP going into an Elastic environment has run out of space within Elastic or made Elastic go into “read only mode” and not accept new records? If you have, then read on for some ways to correct this situation. When ODP was introduced, additional documentation regarding specific uses of ODP with a variety of analytics platforms was provided on GitHub z-open-data . Our team has wanted to provide guidance to how ODP can be integrated into an existing analytic platform or as is the case with Elastic, provide guidance for new instances of Elastic as well. Net: we had some competing requirements for providing guidance. At ...

When storage devices are mirrored for data redundancy, it is critical that the data in those storage devices be kept in sync. APAR PJ46999 provides a utility to compare the contents of a DASD module with its duplicate module. The prime-duplicate DASD module comparison utility is able to find mismatches in data between a primary DASD module and its duplicate, and writes the mismatches that are found to a file on the z/TPF file system. This utility is useful for scenarios where a DASD module falls out of sync with its duplicate module because you can quickly identify the physical area and file address of the data mismatch. It is up to you to decide how to resolve ...

Enable HPF support for full track operations (PJ47087) In the z/TPF system, most single-record read and write I/Os to DASD can use High Performance FICON® for z Systems (zHPF) . Compared with channel command words, HPF is a more efficient protocol, which results in lower channel utilization and reduces I/O response time. However, full-track read and write operations currently do not use HPF translation. The following examples use full-track operations that do not get the benefit of HPF translation: ZMCPY UP and ZMCPY ALL commands Recovery log I/O 48 KB keypoint I/O Capture and restore DASD I/O By applying APAR ...
