Bio

My passion is bridging the proverbial skill-gap. That's why I co-founded the European Mainframe Academy together with Professor Wilhelm G. Spruth and Volker Falch in 2008 and designed a new style of mainframe education in collaboration with IBM and customers based on blended learning. EMA started with educating new mainframers in the German speaking countries and expanded recently to an European level with a plan to expand further to US. To attract young students at universities and other academic institutions, I was one of the initiators and chair of the non-profit Academic Mainframe Consortium in Germany. In cooperation with Professor Philipp Brune from Hochschule Neu-Ulm he realized in 2017 the first German mainframe MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) hosted by Professor Andreas Polze at Hasso Plattner Institute (Potsdam University in Germany). In between, I have more than forty years of mainframe experience and my mission is to transfer as much as possible of my experience to students and young (also not so young) professionals. In 2005 I wrote one of the very few German books about mainframes (Die IBM Mainframe Architektur). I'm widely acknowledged as one of the Europeans' foremost experts in IBM mainframe technology, with hundreds of published articles and presentations to my name.
