Host Configuration Assistant for Z Development (HCA) 3.2
has been released.
The following updates have been made in HCA 3.2:
You can now use the Galasa client with IBM Z Virtual Test Platform 2.0. To use Galasa, ensure that Remote System Explorer API (HAMAxxx) is installed and configured. As Remote System Explorer API requires z/OS Explorer (HALGxxx), z/OS Explorer is automatically selected. You can deselect any host component that is not needed.
Support is added for GitLab Ultimate for IBM z/OS, which bundles IBM Dependency Based Build. If you selected GitLab Ultimate for IBM z/OS, Dependency Based Build (HBGZxxx) will be registered via this product.
You can now easily get an overview of the host component dependencies.
This picture can also be found in the answer to the
FAQ "What are the host component dependencies? " in the help page of HCA
.
When you select z/OS Explorer Extensions (HHOPxxx), z/OS Dynamic Test Runner (HAL6xxx) is now automatically selected because it's required by ZUnit. You can deselect z/OS Dynamic Test Runner if you do not need to use ZUnit. Note that ZUnit and z/OS Dynamic Test Runner are not available in IBM Wazi Developer for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces.
IBM Z Open Development and IBM Z Open Unit Test are end of support and removed from HCA.
HCA has been updated to support the most current release levels of the supported products. Below is a summary of updates to the host components:
z/OS Explorer (HALG320)
You can enable the extended lock tracker service to track lock information. For more information, see (Optional) Extended lock tracker.
Remote System Explorer API (HAMA100)
Added a new feature called Autoscaling to support a high load of user sessions and requests. For more information about the feature, see (Optional) Autoscaling.
Added the extended lock tracker service to help RSE API gather data set lock information and to support the new data set lock API commands. For more information, see (Optional) Extended lock tracker.
Dependency Based Build (HBGZ110)
You can now install the DBB Web Application in a Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) cluster through an operator.
Z Open Automation Utilities
Support for Java APIs is deprecated as of ZOAU 1.1.0 and is planned for removal in 1.2.0. Java APIs support has been removed from HCA.
Please play with the tool and let us know should there be any comments or feedback.
