zSystems APAC webinar - Providing workload continuous availability in any z/OS environment using Multi-site Workload Lifeline

  • Time: Friday February 24, 2023 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM UTC+8
  • Speaker: Mike Fitzpatrick
  • Abstract:
    • This presentation will describe the Multi-site Workload Lifeline (Lifeline) product, and how it can help facilitate continuous availability for your business critical workloads.
In z/OS environments where there is no sysplex or data-sharing capabilities, we will discuss how Lifeline, along with a database software replication product (such as IIDR for Db2, VSAM, or IMS), can provide sysplex-like recovery for these business critical workloads.  A brief demo will show how continuous availability can be achieved for a CICS workload using VSAM datasets.
Next, we will cover z/OS environments that have sysplex-aware workload applications that utilize data-sharing. In these environments, we will discuss how Lifeline provides the workload monitoring and load balancing as part of the larger GDPS Continuous Availability solution.

Unleash SMCv2 in your enterprise! - Shared Memory Communications Version 2 overview

  • Time: August 9, 2022, 11:00 AM EST
  • Speaker: Jerry Stevens, Randy Kunkel
  • Abstract: This session will provide a brief introduction and overview of SMCv2, SMC-Dv2, and SMC-Rv2. Additional information will be provided for SMC-Rv2 along with RoCEv2 ("Routable RoCE") including the IBM z16 and RoCE Express3. SMC-Rv2 uses RoCEv2 technology which uses your existing IP topology and IP routes to extend the reach of RDMA thereby expanding the benefits of SMC-R to additional application workloads. In this session you will learn how you can define and control the scope of SMCv2 connection eligibility and how to identify potential use cases that could benefit from the savings in network related CPU cost, reduced latency, and increased throughput. Learn how you can unleash SMCv2 in your enterprise!
