Do you have Maximo Spatial installed and configured for your ESRI instance in this environment and is it working in the classic applications (IE WOTRACK) for that user? Today, Maximo Mobile requires Spatial & ESRI for mapping support.

On the for EAM side, I didn't do any additional configuration and the map was available for using in Maximo Mobile. For Maximo Application Suite, the configuration in Map Manager requires a bit of additional configuration to enable for the Graphite applications.

If you don't feel comfortable sharing the information please open a support case to get assistance.

    1) Are you using Maximo Application Suite or the for EAM (IE Maximo 7.6.1.2) version of Maximo Mobile?
You mentioned "for EAM" so I assume it's that. But you followed up asking about the additional configuration that I explicitly stated only exists in Maximo Application Suite. Maximo Application Suite (IE the version running on OpenShift), while similar from a functional perspective, is different than the for EAM version. For example, the MAF map component (CARBONMAP) attribute doesn't exist on Maximo 7.6.1.2 but is required to be enabled in Maximo Application Suite.

    2) Do you have Maximo Spatial installed? If so, what version are you running (including any IFIXes)?
If you do not have Spatial and an ESRI system, you cannot utilize maps with Maximo Mobile currently.
Assuming you're on Maximo 7.6.1.2 using the for EAM version for Maximo Mobile 8.6.0, you should be running Spatial 7.6.1.0 IFIX 09/10. You want to keep this consistent with TPAE IFIXes and you're required to be on TPAE IFIX 014 or higher for Maximo Mobile 8.6.0.

    3) Is ESRI configured (not Google/Bing) and is it working in the classic apps like WOTRACK?
You need a base map configured and enabled for the site in question (based on the user's default insert site). If it doesn't work in the classic app it won't work in the Mobile app.

    4) What version of Maximo Mobile are you running (including any IFIXes)?
8.6.0 IFIX 01 is the most recent release for the For EAM version. You must be running TPAE 7.6.1.2 IFIX 014 or higher for this version. This IFIX is required because changes were made to core class files to support the Maximo Mobile 8.6.0 release.

    5) Is your ESRI system public or private? IE can you access the ESRI URLs configured for Map Services on any computer or does it require a VPN?
The Mobile app traffic might not go over the VPN or the VPN might not have access to the ESRI URLs so the app might not have access to the ESRI system. If you're not sure, you can try and access the ESRI URLs on the mobile device in the web browser but these sometimes will route over a VPN while the app traffic wouldn't.

At least for Anywhere and the web browser (I haven't tested with Maximo Mobile and don't have a non-public ESRI system to test on), you can enable a proxy flag on the Map record which would cause the requests to route through Maximo. That can negatively impact performance but would avoid the need for the mobile application to have access to ESRI directly.

Hi - I am new to this topic and I ran into a similar problem. After having installed Maximo Mobile for EAM 8.7 and Maximo Spatial 7.6.1 (iFix11) on a Maximo 7.6.1.2 I was trying to get the map feature to work, but failed. I have followed all the suggested steps above and double-checked the config accoding to the learning video "IBM Maximo Mobile MapConfig demonstration (8 minutes)" from the "Getting started with IBM Maximo Mobile" curriculum, I am able to display assets, locations and workorders associated with Service Adresses on a Map (tried both ESRI and OpenStreetMap as Base Maps) - but only in the classic Maximo UI. Maps are not displayed (or even accessible) in the Maximo Mobile for EAM App nor in the roled-based Technician App in the Webbrowser. The message I am getting when clicking on the map Symbol is "Map is not configured" .
Any suggestions? Any hint will be greatly appreciated.

Can you confirm that you followed the steps here: How to prepare your Map Manager application to accept Graphite configuration

    Ibm remove preview
How to prepare your Map Manager application to accept Graphite configuration
By accessing Map Manager and opening or creating a new record, there won't be any Graphite options in it. Some changes have to be done to the MPMAN.XML application definition in order to get the UI components responsible for this configuration.
    View this on Ibm >

. There's new configuration required on later versions of the Spatial IFIX to support Graphite maps. Without going through that configuration we won't display the apps in Graphite applications. You also need TPAE IFIX 18 or higher for 8.7.

Check that you have a default insert site and a map setup for that default insert site.

When you get the map not configured message it should be coming from an API request to the URL below.
    /maximo/oslc/mapconfiguration?format=json&oslc.select=*&oslc.pageSize=20&collectioncount=1&ignorecollectionref=1&relativeuri=1&addschema=1&lean=1&internalvalues=1

Hi, thanks for your response. Yes I can confirm that I have configured the MPMAN App as described in the link you provided. And - yes I have a default insert site and a map setup for that default insert site. However, my TPAE iFix is 017 so I will give it a try with iFix018 and let you know. Thanks again.

Hi, I have now upgraded to TPAE iFix019 which has been released recently and Spatial iFix013, respectively because this is needed to avoid another error.
In he first place, I had the same situation but thanks to your hint regarding the API request I was able to figure out what was the error coming from the system: It said that there was no active map manager for the insert site. Which in fact was not true but I figured out that I needed to set the flag "MAF map component" (which has been added along with the manual enhancement of the Map Manager app) to TRUE. Now at least I can see the map and workorder in the browser-based technician application.
However - in the Android app I am now able to open the map window, but the base map is not displayed. I see the position of the workorder/asset displayed on a white background (which is not useful).
Any idea what else needs to be done to see the map in the app?

I just realized that guide I linked to never mentions to actually select the checkbox to indicate that it's to be used by the MAF map component. Another piece added related to that for 8.7 is we now support a preload extent for configuring which tiles are automatically downloaded. If you expand the site you'll see the preload configuration. I've attached a screenshot of what this looks like for our demo data system. I don't remember if this is required or not for the mobile app to work. You can download tiles outside of the defined extent but it might be required that you have something get preloaded first.

I fixed the link above in my message but you need to remove the trailing period in the link. I struggle to remember to add a space when I copy links and this platform appends anything and everything until it sees a space. Sorry about that.

    Steve, good day!

I'm try to follow steps to update MPMAN.xml to work with Maximo Mobile ( https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/how-prepare-your-map-manager-application-accept-graphite-configuration ). However, the very first element to change

    • <table beanclass="psdi.webclient.system.beans.DataBean" id="map_sites_table" label="Sites" orderby="siteid" relationship="MAPSITES"

is not in our XML. See uploaded file. Instead, the only element that references  beanclass="psdi.webclient.system.beans.DataBean" looks like this:

    • <table beanclass="psdi.webclient.system.beans.DataBean" id="geocodeservices_table" label="Geocode Services" relationship="PLUSSGEOCODESERVICE">

We are using Mobile 8.11 and the rest of our configuration is here:

The map is from working when we click on the Map symbol from Maximo Mobile for EAM.

We we still need to make modifications to the MPMAN.xml file? Please advise.

    Thank you!

No, since you're on 7.6.1.3 and Spatial 7.6.1.1 this should not be required. This was a manual step required for 7.6.1.2 customers to use some of the new capabilities.
