Will I have to reformat the VOBs?
No - To up the feature level just run 'cleartool chflevel -auto' when you are happy that all servers and clients have been upgraded (if they aren't replicas )
Will I have to execute fix_prot against the VOBs?It will depend if the copy has preserved the VOB protections , I normally re-protect with the fix_prot , protectvob and protect commands (if required)
See the following for good advice ..
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/rational-clearcase/9.0.1?topic=windows-moving-vob-within-domainNote that 9.0.1.1 goes out of support 31st October 2022 !! 9.0.2.x will go out of support this time next year.

Subject: When moving VOBs and Views to another server, other than copying VOBs and Views and re-registering them are there other things that need to be done?
We have created a new environment for ClearCase. All servers in this environment are Server 2016.
All servers in the old environment are Server 2008 R2.
The servers in both environments are in the same domain.
ClearCase on the old environment is 8.0.1.6
ClearCase on the new environment is 9.0.1.11
The VOB and View storage will be of the same architecture.
I have researched copying VOBs and Views however I have some questions
Since version 9.0.1.11 has a new Feature Level:
Will I have to reformat the VOBs?
Will I have to execute fix_prot against the VOBs?
Can I use RoboCopy with the /SEC option?
