Come for answers, stay for best practices. All we're missing is you.
After years of traditional development, a government contractor extended agile and continuous integration (CI) deployments across various technical domains unfamiliar with these processes/techniques. A newly awarded, franchise-level program was selected as a pilot where they could apply a new “Scaled Agile” methodology. However, while agile practices have been promising to date on this effort, the implementation process presented more learning iterations than expected. Our product complexity led to an architecture where automation was not possible without a major upgrade in infrastructure and operations. We describe the “I wish we knew” lessons of our tooling infrastructure and deployment integration of the IBM Rational Jazz Platform. Speakers: Carla Sayan is an Information Agilist, engineer, researcher and mentor at Raytheon Missile Systems. Carla’s breadth of experience includes: agile and model based engineering enterprise transformations, information workflow automation, systems engineering, embedded software design, vulnerability analysis and secure processing architecture supporting cryptographic applications. Carla is the scrum master for a franchisee-level program empowering development with Continuous Integration (CI) and automation to facilitate rapid learning and integration. She holds a SPC4 certification and a B.S and M.S in Systems Engineering. She is a Ph.D. Student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UA. Laura Santos is a senior systems engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems. Her breath of experience includes modeling and simulation, model validation and verification, RF signal processing, algorithm development, model based systems engineering, software qualification, application lifecycle tools, information workflow automation and agile framework. Laura is currently a scrum master and member of the team responsible for technical integrity of a large franchise program. Laura holds a SAFe 4.0 Advanced Scrum Master Certification, a B.S. in Computer Engineering, a M.S in Electrical Engineering and a M.S.E. in Systems Engineering.
