Setting Up a New User in Apptio

Thu June 02, 2016 05:08 PM

Below are the steps to create a new user in Apptio.  Please note that if you want the user to have access to more than one instance (dev, stage, prod), you will need to set them up in each one separately.

1)      Log in to Apptio in the instance you want the new user to be able to access

2)      Click on Studio

3)      Click on Users

4)      Click on the New User button on the bottom right (it’s small!)

5)      Then enter the new user’s details.  Note that the user will be asked to change their password the first time they log in.

  • Role: choose a role that describes the level of access you want that person to have.  Admins are able to see everything.  You are able to set parameters for other roles so that they only see certain reports or data.  You can see more information on the default roles in the Defining Roles part of the Help section.
  • Default Mode: Application mode is for users that will only be viewing reports.  They will not be able to see the model or data.  Any users that will be working with the model or data should be set up in Studio mode.

6)      To delete a user, right click on their name and select Delete from the menu

Hi Jenny,

There is not a way to copy a user, however if you want John and Jane to have the same access you would just need to set them up with the same Role and click on Application or Studio as appropriate.  All of the other options are unique to each user (name, email, password).

Thanks,

Diane

Is there a way to copy a user - if you want to say set up "John" like "Jane"?  I may be thinking of roles.  So if there is a certain setup I typically use for new TBMAs, then just use that role each time...
