A place for Cloudability product users to learn, connect, share and grow together.
Cloudability can now differentiate between Azure Resource Group tags and Azure Resource tags so that customers can distinctly identify and manage them. Previously, Cloudability made no distinction between a Resource Group tag and a Resource tag, both were merged and treated as Resource tags. With this release, customers can now better track and manage their Resource Groups by creating a new business dimension for them, applying specific rules, business mappings to them etc.
Cloudability will change the format of Azure tags as below:cldy:azure:ResourceGroupTag:<TagKey>, for tags generated from Resource Group levelcldy:azure:ResourceTag:<TagKey>, for tags generated from Resource level
Thanks for the clarity, Rajesh!
@Eugene Girolimetto - here are the answers:
A: No. If both resource group and all the resources within that group have same tag:value, you may just use either one of them to map to a dimension in Cloudability.
A: Yes. nothing else has changed in the way our tagging works - we just introduced a way to clearly distinguish resource group tags in Azure
We will review our Help center docs on tagging and make the necessary changes soon.
Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or need further clarifications. Thanks, Eugene!
Questions about this enhancement:
In light of this release, I started reviewing all of my current tag mappings, which led me to realize that the Help Center entry for Tags in Cloudability is in dire need of an update. Please add info for Azure and others.
