Clarity needed for Red-Hat Virtualisation as part of MAS Entitlement:
I previously understood that Red Hat Virtualisation needed to be purchased separately to supplement OpenShift (OCP) for MAS deployments. However, after discussing this with the Red Hat team last week, they clarified that since MAS already includes entitlement to OCP, it also covers Red Hat OVE (OpenShift Virtualization Engine) and OKE (OpenShift Kubernetes Engine) as per the diagram mentioned below.
It would be very helpful if this entitlement were clearly documented on IBM’s website (Licensing in Maximo Application Suite 9.0 and earlier - IBM Documentation) — specifically confirming that OVE and OKE are included as part of the OCP entitlement for MAS deployments. This clarification could also strengthen MAS’s value proposition from a virtualisation perspective.
We reviewed the entitlement details in Licensing in Maximo Application Suite 9.0 and earlier – IBM Documentation. While it seems logical that if OVE and OKE are part of OCP, they should therefore be covered under the MAS entitlement, there remains some ambiguity. For example, when selling MAS with a five-year S&S term, it’s unclear how future changes in Red Hat’s licensing model might affect the entitlement, as current IBM documentation only explicitly refers to OCP.
