Task management apps aren't something new, but most people tend to abandon them rather quickly. Picture your household. There are probably quite a few tasks that need to be done on some consistent basis. How do you manage it? Who does what and when? Do you split them, while also ensuring fairness? What if someone does more work than the others? Wouldn't it be nice if there were some sort of accountability and a way to get rewarded for extra work?? Well, RoomieRewards is just for you: it lets you (1) easily manage these tasks with the help of AI and (2) make the process enjoyable with gamification. 1. We use AI in two ways to make the process easier: a. leveraging the new IBM Granite 3.2 models to make personalized suggestions based on the living situation of the user and the household. b. a custom AI model trained on predicting the likely relative time (e.g., a weekend evening) and location (e.g., a grocery store) of a task. 2. The 'enjoyable' part comes from incorporating game elements, a technique also known as gamification. In this session, we explore the game elements, the psychological mechanisms they target to foster motivation and collaboration among household members.. Additionally, we explore the inner workings of the system: how we deploy AI models on mobile devices, given unique hardware limitations. Finally, all the puzzle pieces come together in an interactive live demo with the audience.
