1238 - From human in the loop to human on the loop

As AI systems proliferate, many organizations are insisting on keeping a human in the loop. But in an interconnected, complex, real-time and fast-changing world, many systems need to be autonomous and deliver straight through processing. Indeed, the human in the loop is often just a human airbag - there to take the blame. Success with AI, and more broadly with machine learning and business automation, means putting humans ON the loop. Well-designed decisioning systems empower human decision-makers to control how a decision will be made and allow them to adapt and evolve that decision-making to improve and optimize it. This session will describe the key characteristics of human on the loop systems and outline a three-step process for delivering them. Leveraging IBM's decision, analytic, machine learning and AI technology, organizations can empower their human decision-makers like never before.
