You already know the value in connecting with other Apptio customers, asking questions and getting real-world feedback. The return you get on participating in the Apptio Community goes way beyond a digital badge in yet another online forum. But....since you're here...since you're getting those benefits anyway...why not check your place on the leaderboard? ;-) Your TBM efforts will definitely pay off but it usually takes a little longer in the real world. Online, you get to see them translated to digital currency instantly. It's fun.
Matt Temple @Matt Temple sent me this over the summer...

It's more than impressive that Matt was ahead me because back then it was easier for Apptio employees to earn points. Matt was out there answering questions, leading Apptians and competing with Richard @Richard Coronado back when the highest ranking person on the leaderboard was a robot.

R.I.P. Apptio Info Dev, we don't miss you on the leaderboard.
Matt, to recognize your efforts, our Community Admin, Brandon @Brandon Walshin created the spotlight badge.

(re-purposing the InfoDev graphic in the process - take that robots!) He added it to your profile and just like that you're +25. We'll award it to anyone we feature in a home page highlight. Those of you who posted an image in the previous feature, have received the badge as well :-)
But enough about the past, today the Apptio Community points structure is defined to really recognize you for your participation and it's so great to see the top spots taken over by Apptio users.

There's plenty of room for you.
So here's the low-down on the leaderboard rise-up.
- Upload a profile pic. One of the most challenging things about interacting strictly online, is remembering that there's a real, three dimensional person behind every profile. A picture helps everyone view you as a unique individual. It doesn't even have to be a picture of you, any image that we can associate with you helps.
- Get out there and participate. You can view all the points associated with various actions on this page, but here's a sample
Action | Points |
You created a piece of content | 10 |
Content you created was liked | 2 |
Content you created was shared | 1 |
You commented or replied to a piece of content | 5 |
You shared a piece of content | 2 |
You marked a persons answer as correct | 5 |
You mark a piece of content, comment or reply as Helpful | 2 |
You followed someone | 1 |
You uploaded your first profile image | 25 <-- see ;-) |
How all this relates to Badges

Mission and expert badges are cool because when you're looking at someone's profile, you can quickly get a sense for how they contribute to community. For example, check out the earned missions on Chris Davidson's @Chris Davidson profile https://tbmcouncil.jiveon.com/rewards.jspa?username=cdavidson . We just rolled out the new points system and Chris is already a Level 2 Helper.
Right now all the mission and expert badges have default icons. If you're the first person to make level 5 on a Mission badge or to earn an expert badge, we'll let you define the icon. It's the Apptio Community wild west people, stake your claim.
Some badges (like the ones you earn from Apptio U) already have icons. You can see great examples of these on Andrea's @Andrea Crdenas profile. https://tbmcouncil.jiveon.com/rewards.jspa?username=andreacardenas
How all this relates to Levels
The leveling system has also been re-tiered.
Name | Points | Level |
New Member | 0 | 0 |
Observer | 100 | 1 |
Explorer | 500 | 2 |
Path finder | 1000 | 3 |
TBM Citizen | 2,500 | 4 |
TBM Champion | 5,000 | 5 |
TBM Authority | 7,500 | 6 |
TBM Royalty | 12,500 | 7 |
Right now there is no one on community higher than a level 4, but Jenny Franklin @Jenny Franklin is not messing around. She's not that far from TBM Champion. You can always check the top 100 here: https://tbmcouncil.jiveon.com/rewards/leaderboards?ranking=community&page=0
And that's the whole scoop. See you on the leaderboard!
