Human in the Loop Strategy

A paper on the recent cybersecurity policy changes from President Trump's EO changing the prevailing trend toward rigid, prescriptive regulation. We highlight some of the dangers of a regulatory monoculture, the enduring value of human expertise, and the need for flexible, adaptive frameworks based on AI Native Zero Trust because of growing AI-driven threats. Despite all of the advances in AI and automation, human expertise remains the ultimate defense in cybersecurity and data governance. Overreliance on automated, checklist-based compliance can weaken real-world security by sidelining adaptive human judgment. Counter-intuitively regulatory uniformity creates a fragile prescriptive monoculture that increases systemic risk, as a single vulnerability in a universally prescribed approach can be exploited sector-wide, multiplying the impact of attacks.
