How to build your certification plan

These steps will help IBM TechXchange attendees (and other motivated career professionals) build a certification plan and stay on track.

Step 1: Set your goal

Step 2: Take an IBM Assessment Exam

Like many professionals, you probably already have a great deal of hands-on experience. You may just need a skills tune-up and a plan. That’s where IBM Training Assessment Exams can help. They help you pinpoint your knowledge gaps, so you can focus your learning and head into the certification exam with confidence.

After choosing the certification exams that fit your career and expertise, sign up for and take an assessment exam. Assessment exam results are predictive of how you will perform on the actual certification exam and point out gaps where you can focus your pre-exam study.

  • If you’ve registered for a full pass to IBM TechXchange 2025, you have a FREE IBM Assessment Exam via a promo code in your TechXchange attendee portal.
  • Use your free assessment exam pre-conference to ensure you are ready for your certification exam when you reach the conference.
  • Additional full-length assessment exams are available for $30.

Step 3: Fill the gaps

Build your study guide using resources from the certification exam’s Exam Prep section.

Step 4: Schedule your exam
