Create a Drill Table

Once a user has created a visualization (pie, bar or chart), users can add a drill table, by selecting a specific slice, bar or column in a chart, users will have a modal pop up that contains additional detail regarding the selected data.  For example, below is a list of the top 10 applications, users can create drill tables to see the underlying server infrastructure for a specific application. 

 

The following steps will show how to create, view and edit drill tables on a visualization.  

 

To create a drill table on a report: 

  1. Click Add Visualization on a report 
  2. When the visualization editor opens, select the data source, dimensions, metrics and time for your parent report in the left hand panel. The parent report is the report you will drill from 
  3. After selecting the data, select the visualization type. The supported visualization types for drills currently are pie, bar and column charts. 
  4. Once your parent chart is complete, select the drill icon in the upper right-hand corner of the editor screen  
  5. From the drill mode drop down select “Fixed Table” and then select the Edit Drill Table 
  6. Select the dimensions, metrics, time and (optional) filters for your drill table.  
  7. When the drill table is complete, select OK 
  8. When you are finished, click Save.  

To view a drill on a report:  

  1. Charts that have been drill enabled will have a drill icon in the upper right-hand corner. Select a visualization that is drill enabled. Select a slice, bar or column on the visualization.  
  2. The drill table will appear in a pop-up modal on the report screen.  

 

To edit a drill 

  1. Select the 3-dot icon on the upper right-hand corner of the visualization you want to edit.  
  2. Select the drill icon on the editor screen  
  3. Then select Edit Drill Table which will take you to the Drill Table editor
