  • 1.  AWS S3 bucket file exchange with on premise Connect:Direct

    Posted Tue February 01, 2022 05:06 PM
    Hello,

as SSE is not supported by B2Bi right now we try to stup the connection from an on premise Connect:Direct node to an AWS S3 bucket.
    Did somebody tried this already?

Accoring to IBM's documentation the C:D should be installed on EC2 but an IBM sales rep mentioned that some clients did it with locally installed C:D nodes.

    Thanks and best regards
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,

It will work. It's just quicker if the C:D node is located on AWS as the C:D protocol is more efficient than the S3 API HTTPS calls that are used by C:D to access the bucket.
I've not personally tried it with AWS but for a test I tried it out with a C:D instance on IBM Cloud in EMEA talking to a bucket I created on play.min.io and it worked fine.

    Best regards,
    Richard.

    Hi Manuel,

I basically just followed the docs. One thing I had to do to make it work with MinIO was to change the value of virtualHostedUri I think but I wouldn't expect that to be an issue with AWS.
Note I didn't exactly stress test it so you may need to play with things like checkpointing, part size etc. documented here

    Best regards,
    Richard.
