Hi Sebastian
I had the same issue with updaten from 8.4.0.9 to 8.5.0.6. The upload from the GUI said it will take 5 hours (that's horrible).
I then did a combination of command line and GUI.
You can upload the upgrade file with putty
pscp directory_software_upgrade_files/software_upgrade_file_name username@cluster_ip_address:/home/admin/update
Then you can go in the GUI to upgrade your system and can select via the drop down menu your uploaded upgrade file. The system will skip the upload process and directly update your nodes.
Hope this will help you or someone with the same problem.

Subject: why is the Firmware upload performance in spectrum virtualize very Slow and Slower
Hy,
I've noticed for a long time that with every release 8.4/8.5 the upload performance of the firmware files gets worse and worse.
The whole thing is customer-independent, so in the first step I mean that is not a local network problem,
also if manage VM and Storage are within the same VLAN.
Today I'm implementing a FS5200 and now I'm waiting 75 minutes for the upload!
On two node systems its better, on Systems with 4 ore more nodes its very poor.
I test with some Browsers FF, GC, ME, IE ....... all the same
