Those .str files are designed to keep a copy of the situations assigned to each agent. The goal is to allow situations to start running even if the TEMS the agent connects to is not available.
1) long term growth is unusual since few agents run more than 25-50 situations.
2) You can stop the agent, erase that file and restart the agent. If the growth is caused by some corruption, rebuilding will resolve the issue.
3) If you set the following in the lz.ini file
CTIRA_SIT_MGR=N
and recycle the Linux OS agent, the logic will always get situation definition from the TEMS. It will also not maintain the .str file. It will, of course, be unable to run situations when the TEMS is not available.
