    Hi Prem,

As the SYSTEMSTATE is a special object, as far as TSM is concerned, is cannot be backed up using any schedule that is not a full incremental backup. Therefore, I think you should use two schedules:

    1. backup the SYSTEMSTATE using the action=backup
    2. backup your data drives using action=inc

If these need to be ran together, then you could but these into a command scripts on the client server and then use the TSM scheduler to execute the backup script.

If this server is a VM, then TSM for VE could be used to perform an incremental image backup of the VM which includes the SS.

    Hi,

    In dsm.opt, put

    domain systemstate c: d:

That will do what you are looking for.

Agreed. Further, it is only necessary to specify the DOMAIN option if you do not want to back up all local drives. For example, if the system only has C: and D:, then it it not necessary to specify DOMAIN at all. The default is ALL-LOCAL which, on Microsoft Windows, includes system state and all local drives.

I also suggest this document as a good starting point for backup and recovery of Microsoft Windows systems:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/recovering-microsoft-windows-systems-using-ibm-spectrum-protect-backup-archive-client

Within the above document, pay special attention to the first linked document, which is about essential backup practices:
