Kubernetes and containers are becoming mainstream for IT development and quickly becoming top of mind in IT operations  around the globe. Containers have quickly moved from "science project" to production in just a few years, for many good reasons. The meteoric uptick in interest in containers is driven primarily by developers and DevOps staff looking for a way to push more code out the door, with more stable and usable code from the get-go.

Containers are highly flexible and bring incredible scale to how apps and storage are delivered; traditional storage can often be the bottleneck that stops this progress. The underlying storage should be highly elastic, easily provisioned by both developers and admins, and, ideally, managed using the same orchestration framework as is used for application containers.

This will be a series of Posts (also check out the BLOGs) that discuss how IBM Storage for file and object storage not only supports containerized applications but it making the storage choice simple for containers with leading technology and innovation for the hybrid cloud and an AI information architecture.

PART I - The CSI driver for RWX and RWO access to data
As containerized environments grow and as more customers move to the cloud, storage must adapt. Data persistence and performance shoot to the top of "container data resource" needs. To stay ahead, IBM supports the CSI open initiative for IBM Spectrum Scale and a CSI operator for an easy to deploy method for accessing IBM Spectrum Scale and the federated global file system.

This will be a series that introduces IBM Storage for file and object data and why IBM Storage is the best way to store data for Kubernetes platforms and Red Hat OpenShift.

Stay tuned for more innovations in the next few months.
