  • 1.  Screen Timeout - Cannot Change

    Posted Thu October 15, 2020 09:25 AM
    Hi,

Our Samsung devices are Android Enterprise managed. Android 10.

One of our users wanted to change the Settings, Display, Screen Timeout setting, however you cannot change this to more than 1 minute. Message says "Other options (not shown here) have been disabled by your Administrator.

I cannot see anywhere in the policy for Android Enterprise where this is set?

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy,

Are you enforcing a passcode in the MDM policy?  If so, check that the "Allowed Idle Time Before Auto Lock" setting isn't set to 1 minute

Once again, thanks Matt - That was it.  It's great when you know where the various options are. :-)

    Kind Regards
    Andy

    Hey Matt,

We are not enforcing a passcode on our MDM policy, so how would I lengthen the Idle Time?

    Hi Mandi

Matt left the company several years ago, just FYI. Have reviewed this.

If you are not looking to configure this via the Passcode settings - available in iOS and Android Enterprise policy settings - then I would suggest doing it at a hardware level. If you are using Android devices there is a different approach to configuration which is manufacturer specific and is called OEMConfig.

Please have a look at a blog I wrote some time back explaining this.
