  • 1.  Problem removing (uninstalling) apps from Android Enterprise DO devices

    Posted Mon July 11, 2022 03:22 AM
    Hi,
we're trying to remove an app from multiple Android Enterprise DO devices. Originally the app distribution was configured without ticking off the "Remove on Stopping Distribution" check box.

    We have tried the following:

    1. Tick off "Remove on Stopping Distribution" on the App details page
    2. => Followed by removing the distribution (i.e. all the distributions for this app)
    3. Send a Remove App command (with the correct App Id/package name) to device group "Android Devices" => this command reports "success" on the devices (under History->Status), but the app is still listed under installed apps
    4. Send a Remove App command on individual devices (from list of installed apps on the device) => this command also reports "success" on the devices ((under History->Status), but the app is still listed under installed apps

Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Does anyone have a solution or good work around for this issue?

    Hi Kjetil
    Good question and worth remembering!
I would propose that if the remove commands / actions haven't taken effect, that you use the Blocklist action in the Android Enterprise policy settings (Application Compliance), which should be able to auto-remove the app if previously distributed to PO/DO devices.
Please let me know how you get on.
    Best

    Hi Eamonn and thanks!
Actually this app was marked as required in the policy, so no wonder it didn't work so well.
Anyway, we're removed that and issued a new Remove app to the devices, and it seems to be working much better now.

    Cheers!
