It works both with an UNLOAD and with an active primary database for me.
But I am not really here to troubleshoot the problem, I suggest you contact Support.

Jeroen, just out of curiosity what RACF DB file did you have selected? I am experiencing the issue with the Primary Active RACF DB selected.

Hi Scott,
I tried to reproduce your observation, but did not succeed. It is showing the custom data field lookup to me with or without the INSTDATA lookup.
So this appears to be an anomaly. You might want to contact support for troubleshooting.

Subject: Carla Lookup question regarding Instdata
Have a question regarding the below Carla. I generated this Carla from the zSecure panels and modified to capture the fields I was interested in. I am pulling the STUSER field from the STDATA segment of profiles in the STARTED class but also displaying a CSDATA field of the STUSER. If I submit the below Carla it works fine and I successfully list the CSDATA segment Field1, but if I remove stuser:instdata from the SORTLIST the Carla will run alot faster but does not list the CSDATA segment Field1. Why does the removal of instdata from the SORTLIST prevent the Carla from listing the CSDATA segment of the STUSER?
N n=STDATAR1 s=STDATA required nopage
S c=STARTED s=STDATA
sortlist key(17,"Profile",key,pas) class stuser,
complex stuser:protected('Protected',9) stuser:field1('Field1',5),
stuser:name stuser:instdata
