We're getting excessively high mobile data usage on the Samsung email app, across random users (e.g. 5-10 per month crop up). When I say excessive, I mean incredible amounts. Some users up to 80gb just on the email app, which if you consider the largest attachment size with Exchange of 20mb you can see that 80gb is pretty much impossible especially where most of our users have 1gb mailbox limits!
We enrol as Android Enterprise DO, with the app in the App catalog that gets pushed down to the device upon first enrol. Within the app config we have the exchange details, as by using ActiveSync settings in the policy never pushes the mail setup to the device in Android (iOS works fine doing it in the policy).
By removing the app and pushing it back to the device again resolves the issue.
I know I can add an expense policy and alert/block devices that hit a certain level however that's not the root cause. I simply cannot find any reason for this happening, and it's causing us tension as we use a data allowance from our service provider which we are likely to breach if we don't find a fix.
