  • 1.  Where is the iSeries User/password tied to a scheduled report?

    Posted Fri January 20, 2023 09:26 AM
I have a user who writes her own DB2 reports and creates the schedules for them.  Our system requires that we change our iSeries password every 90 days.  So every time she changes her password, her scheduled DB2 Web Query reports do not run.  Apparently they can't run because the password has changed.  The scheduled log report says 'Task error:  IBFSException 6000:  Bad userid'.  Her profile shows that there were 74 'Password verifications not valid' from last night's attempts to run her reports.  Note:  she does not use her iSeries User/password for anything else, she works outside of the iSeries otherwise.

Where/how is the userid/password attached to the scheduled report?  is it on the report, or is it on the scheduling setup?  My own scheduled reports, and others that also schedule reports, do not have a problem when changing password.  Is there a setting that she may have set somewhere that is requiring the userid/password in order for the schedule job to run?

    Dear Kathy

I suggest you ask his question in the group named "DB2 Web Query for i" :  https://community.ibm.com/community/user/power/communities/community-home?communitykey=a2a10564-4423-4b1a-aad4-0184ed3b8179   and you will stand a better chance of getting a response.   You may need to join the group first before you can post in there.

There is I series group this needs to be moved to I series. Or OS/400 group.

This is a DB2 Web Query problem, not an iSeries problem.  The issue is when the scheduled report runs - it errors because it says User is not valid.  But it is valid.  That user can go into the DB2 Web Query report and run the scheduled job manually.  The scheduler won't run it though.

Kathy mentioned explicitly the product name of "DB2 Web Query". So, it is proper to move her question to the group named "IBM Db2 Web Query for i" as there is one such group. I see that she can also post the question in "IBM i Global" group because there are about a thousand members in that group and she stands a good chance of getting a useful response.   There is no group named "I series" nor "OS/400".

Posting her question in DB2 group can potentially be a wasted effort because there are not many members there, if at all, who are familiar with DB2 Web Query for i and her question has nothing to do with any database function at all. It's about how DB2 Web Query uses an IBM i user profile to run its scheduled report job when the user's password changes since its last run.

The Db2 Web Query group has just recently been created and a better place to ask this question, which Kathy has done. That group is monitored by the Db2 Web Query development and lab services team and the discussion board replaces a Q&A discussion board that was sunsetted. Sure, you can ask any question in Power Systems or IBM i or any other group, but if you have a web query specific question my advice is to ask it in the web query group for a faster response. Over time, my hope is more members will join as we're just getting going here in the IBM community!
