Hi Frederick,
I would bet my 5 pences on that U will NOT get 2.0.3 working on RHEL8.9.
At least those older versions of PowerVC were very strict with the RHEL minor versions.
I recall once (accidentally or whatever) updating my 2.0.3 PVC node to RHEL 8.5 (8.6 was not out yet that time) ..and surprise surprise 60% of the pvc services raised their hands on startup saying "Sorry dude, we are not starting here" So restore from snapshot/ backup it was then (luckily I had one..)..
Not sure what is your RHEL level (and architecture) on the current v.2.0.1.1 env; but if doable, my recommendation would be:
- Upgrade your current v.2.0.1.1 RHEL to 8.4 (U need some fixing on your RHEL repos to get that exact level instead of the latest and greatest RHEL 8.x)
- Upgrade your PowerVC to 2.0.3 + install all iFixes on top.
-In parallel, create a new RHEL9.3 VM; install clean PVC 2.2 there (+ needed iFixes)
- Restore 2.0.3 backup to your fresh new PVC 2.2 env
<< This way your running env is "safe" all the time, and U can test restore etc on the new env aside from current prod env.
One thing that I have noticed as "Very good life Insurance", is that each time when touching / upgrading my PowerVC node...I have asked a little help from my friends on Storage team (e.g stopped PowerVC services, shut down node, and asked Storage team to take Snapshot of all volumes..Then restarted and continued with Upgrade operations etc) ...If something goes south ...Restore of the snapshot takes under 5mins and you have your env back Up & running on square 1.
I've been on that path from 1.4 >> 2.0.1 >> 2.2 ; and tbh, I has not always (read:ever) been rose pink garden all the way, but eventually all things are working anyways ;)
Currently I am testing to convert my RHEL8 PVC2.2 single node setup to 3-node RHEL9 setup, lets see how that goes..

Alan,
My intention is to eventually get to v2.2. I am starting with v.2.0.1.1 and I was told that the backup of that version can only be restored on v2.0.3 and then after that I can proceed to the current version.

I would look towards a newer version if possible, however - here is what is supported on 2.0.3 per documentation.

I have what I hope is a simple, and maybe even a silly question. Is v2.0.3 supported on RHEL 8.9? When I try to install, I get an error message that states "Install of Ansible packages failed". This happens even though it looks as if it found ansible v2.9 and is ready to install it.
