    Good morning all,

Moved an LPAR form POWER8 to POWER9 (9080-M9S) and it split across two SRADs despite the frame being empty. The frame is single CEC with 40 processors and 8TB of memory. The LPAR has 4 EC, 10VPs and 20VPs Max and 200GB of memory with max set at 256GB.

To my surprise, I cannot find a way to see how much memory is controlled by an SRAD. Have I missed something obvious?

Second question, why did it split? Is it because of the max 20 VPs? I'm not finding any clues.

    Regards,
    Henrik Morsing

    Hello Henrik,

to get an overview how a srad is built and how the memory is distributed you can use a hypervisor firmware dump, see link:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/data-collection-power-hypervisor-processor-and-memory-placement

In your configuration each socket should address 2 TB memory.

    Regards, Harald

Thank-you for that Harald, very informative. Will give that a go.

Any idea why the LPAR split? Or is it just an LPM side-effect and a restart will fix it?
